The content of Northern Focus is provided for the personal use of people who want to visit and enjoy what this part of the world has to offer. The information presented here was correct to the best of my knowledge  at the time it was added to Northern Focus. As with everything, things change, so if you are interested in an event check the dates and times with the organisers to avoid disappointment due to a late change. Similarly, access to and safety of routes may vary throughout the year depending on any number of factors such as weather conditions, lambing season or biosafety restrictions such as Foot-and-Mouth or Japanese Larch disease. Access to castles, country parks and so on may also vary throughout the year.

Engaging in any outdoor recreation will mean encountering various hazards, it is your responsibility to assess the risk, whether or not you are properly prepared to minimise that risk and if you are happy to take part given your own assessment of the risk. You are also responsible for the consequences of your actions and you should seek to engage in outdoor recreational activity in a zero impact mindset i.e. adopting the “Leave no Trace” philosophy, respecting the rights of other people enjoying the outdoors and not least the rights of landowners or riparian rights owners.
