Helen’s Bay

Helen’s Bay was named after Lady Dufferin, the mother of the 1st Marquess of Dufferin and Ava. The marquess wanted to build a resort to rival other seaside destinations such as Portrush and a station was constructed to serve the planned village. The bay is on the route of the North Down coastal path and is also the start of a countryside route to Helen’s Tower (also named after the Lady Dufferin) in the Clandboye estate.
