Take-a-View Landscape Photographer of the Year

Saltburn Pier Winter Dusk

OK, so I didn’t win the coveted title of Landscape Photographer of the Year, but I was still really pleased when I learned that this image of Saltburn Pier is being published the Awards book and exhibited at the National Theatre in London.

About the competition:
The competition (take-a-view.co.uk) was conceived by Charlie Waite, one of the UK’s pre-eminent landscape photogaraphers (www.charliewaite.com). With a prize fund totalling more than £20000 and an entry fee just to submit images, the standard was always going to be high. I submitted 4 images in total and this was the one that made it through to the final round of judging. I must admit to being a little surprised, because it wasn’t the image that I thought had the best chance of progressing!

The exhibition is free and runs from 15th September until the 3rd November in the National Theatre in London. The book, published by the AA, is being launched at the exhibition. I hope to be able to go to the exhibition, but sadly I no longer live as close to London as I did when I entered the competition.
